WELLNESS TOURISM – THE FUTURE,
Together with our colleague Dr. Koscak, Professor at the university of Maribor/ Slovenia, we debated today in detail the new and challenging duality of the modern tourism industry: Mass Tourism versus Wellness Tourism .
The question of transformation capability of the old, pre- pandemic Mass Tourism into the new form has been analyzed and our consensus was that it will be absolutely and ultimately mandatory to achieve this metamorphosis, if tourism as a major industry must survive. Such transformation will take some time however but the benefits will be considerable to all participants, patients/ tourists and hosts.
We analyzed further some inherent flaws of the Cruising industry, the next form of Mass Tourism and the evident impacts of the host.
One of the conclusions drawn was that the mentality of the post covid era towards the health vacation must dramatically change. HEALTH VACATION IS NOT AN INSURANCE BENEFIT, and the health tourists must become familiar and comfortable with the idea of having to pay for it out of their private pocket.
Finally we concluded that generally speaking a HEALTH and WELLNESS VACATION will have to be calculated differently than a commercial one and due to the much higher standard in expectation, quality and involvement will be more expensive but irrelevant in fact when one considers the health benefits incorporated into the package.
THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS TOURISM WILL BE THE FUTURE and the sophisticated and informed HEALTH TRAVELER will be plenty rewarded and his expectations met by an equally enthusiastic host.
